California Poppy
Physical Characteristics
The California Poppy has cup like petals. They can be different colors such as red,pink,orange,yellow,blue, and white. California Poppies can grow 6-12 inches tall (15-30 cm) and 6-8 inches wide (15-20 cm).
Edibility
The California Poppy is edible. The golden petals can add a bright colors to your salads. You can make tea by crushing the roots and putting it in warm water, but do not eat the roots just use it for flavor. You can also eat the seeds and pods.

Habitat
The California Poppy grows in the west coast of North America. It also grows in sunny,sandy,well drained soils and flourish gardens. The California Poppy can also grow in Pacific Coastal hills, inland valleys, foothills , lower mountain elevations ,southern California, and especially the Mojave dessert.
Medicinal uses
The California Poppy is used for depression,long term mental and physical tiredness and nerve pain. It can also be used for various psychiatric conditions, blood vessel problems,sedation,and sensitivity to weather change. The should be mixed with other herbs.
Other Uses
The California Poppy is used to promote relaxation. Its also a symbol of sleep,peace,death, and dead soldiers. It was actually used for advertising images for corona beer.

Jaw Dropping Facts
In the Wizard of Oz movie at one point of the movie it featured Massive poppy fields. Its actually illegal to pick poppies. They are best to be grown in spring and grow in 10-15 days.
